Heartland Institute Reacts to Fracking Ban
in Vermont

The Fish and Wildlife Committee in the Vermont House voted yesterday to permanently ban hydraulic fracturing in the state. Similar legislation is under consideration in the state Senate.
According to the state geologist, Vermont has no known resources that could be developed through fracking, and no companies have taken action to pursue hydraulic fracturing in the state.

  1. Obviously the important think here is that there is no shale in Vermont. Success will be when horizontal hydrofracking is banned in WV, OH, and PA where the Marcellus Shale is currently being fracked without oversight or regulation.
